Title:
FIXING STRUCTURE FOR VEHICLE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02102849
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make it possible to effectively break a battery upon a bump of a vehicle or the like so as to extinguish the power feed capability thereof in order to ensure the safety, by securing the battery in such a way that it is clamped longitudinally and widthwise of the vehicle by a plurality of support members each having a small support surface at its front end.

CONSTITUTION: In the rear section of the vehicle body of an automobile, a battery 8 is installed on a battery tray 14 secured to a rear side frame 11 so that its longitudinal direction is aligned substantially with the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, and are supported by two front and rear support mechanisms 20, 30. When the rear end part 11a of the rear side frame 11 is deformed so as to contract, causing a lock tower 5 to move forward of the vehicle body, upon a bump of the vehicle, a large compression force is effected between bolts 24, 23 in the front and rear support mechanisms 20, 30, and further this compression force is exerted locally to small parts at the front ends of the bolts 23, 24, resulting in breakage of the battery by thee small parts, thereby battery liquid leaks outside of the battery.
