Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant resin composition having excellent flame retardancy while containing no red phosphorus, and suppressing the addition amount of metal hydrates to as little as possible, and nevertheless meeting characteristics required for optical fiber cable jacket such as hardness and cold resistance.SOLUTION: The flame retardant resin composition is prepared by blending: 100 pts.wt of a base resin containing at least 40 to 80 pts.wt of a high-density polyethylene or a polypropylenic block copolymer and 60 to 20 pts.wt of a linear low-density polyethylene; 2 to 10 pts.mass of an aromatic phosphate ester as a flame retardant; and 30 to 70 pts.wt of magnesium hydroxide treated concurrently with oleic acid when being treated with vinylsilane, methacryloxysilane, or these silanes.
