PURPOSE: To prevent the abrasion of the sidewall of a tire by forming a flange for fitting the tire with a continuous annular forged member made of a material different from adjacent components of a wheel assembly so as to reduce an electric corrosion action with the components.

CONSTITUTION: A wheel assembly 12 for fitting a tire 14 is constituted of a flange 10 and members 16, 18, 20, and it supports the sidewall 28 of the tire 14 on the inner face 26 of the flange 10. The flange 10 is formed with a continuous annular forged member having no induced stress as present by butt welding and conventional cold machining. The flange 10 is made of a high-tension material unlike the members 16, 18, 20 made of low-carbon steel, for example. An electric corrosion action with the members 16, 18, 20 is reduced, and the corrosion in the flange 10 and the abrasion of the sidewall of the tire 14 can be prevented.
