Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a flat heat pipe for use in cooling a portable personal computer having a superior cooling capability.

CONSTITUTION: In a flat heat pipe 20 having a flat sectional shape for use in cooling a portable personal computer which is installed between a heat generating location and a thermal radiation location within the portable personal computer in such a manner that heat may be given or received between them, wick members 28 composed of many ultra fine wires are arranged along a longitudinal direction within a container 21 formed by some flat closed metallic pipes. In addition, a belt member 27 wound in a hollow helical form is arranged in a longitudinal direction in the container 21 in such a way that a clearance 29 having a desired spacing may be spaced apart at both ends in at least a longitudinal direction, and then the wick members 28 are pressed against the inner wall surface of the container 21 with the belt member 27.
