This flat plate type display device comprises an emitter part 15 including a lower base board 12 whereon a cathode electrode 14 and gate electrode 18 are formed, a display part 20 including an upper base board 22 whereon an electrode as transparent anode 24 coated with a fluorescent substance is formed, supporting walls 32a having a high aspect ratio provided for keeping the specified spacing between the emitter part 15 and display part 20, a plurality of spacers 32 having at least one supporting leg 32b protruding to the left and right orthogonal to the supporting walls 32a for supporting the walls 32a, and a sealing member 54 for vacuum sealing the peripheral zone of the emitter part 15 and display part 20.
