Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a flat plate type solid electrolyte fuel cell capable of retaining cell performance by preventing development of cracks in the central part of a solid electrolyte plate during thermal cycling.
CONSTITUTION: A cell stack 1 is formed by alternately stacking a cell 10 and a separator 20. The cell 10 is formed by arranging a cathode 12 and an anode on each side of a solid electrolyte plate 11. The solid electrolyte plate 11 comprises an electrolyte center plate 11a and electrolyte side plates 11b, 11c separately formed, and the boundary of the both plates is sealed with a non- conductive material (boro-silicate glass) softened at the operating temperature of a fuel cell to form electrolyte plate sealing parts 30, 31.
