To provide a thin-type flexible optical disk that does not cause deformation in the inner-periphery section of a disk and is capable of stable servo operation, and to provide a manufacturing method of the thin-type flexible optical disk.
In the thin-type flexible optical disk that has inner and outer diameters and is as thick as not more than 0.3 mm, when the outermost-periphery end of a disk is set to a radius r1 and the outermost-periphery end of a disk is set to a radius r2, the disk is shaped so that r2r1+3 mm is satisfied. A region ranging from r1 to r2 is set to be an outer-periphery non-data region, and this part is held when carrying the disk (namely, the outer-periphery section is a gripping margin), thus preventing the data region from being scratched. In this case, the part may be held by non-data regions at both of the inner-periphery and outer-periphery parts. For example, an electrostatic chuck system may be used as a holding method.
