The flexible stator bar (10) comprises strands (12) having a rectangular cross-sectional profile composed of a plurality of wires having a gauge dimension effective for imparting flexibility, and a thermoplastic elastomer insulating material (14) arranged around the strands (12). In the process for producing the flexible stator bar (10), the thermoplastic elastomer insulating material (14) is stuck onto the flexible strands (12) and since the strands can be aligned with a desired position while sustaining flexibility, dimensional management is improved as compared with an Roebel type stator bar. Subsequently, the insulated flexible strands (12, 14) are coated with stage B epoxy and hardened and then assembled in an electric machine of desired application to have a final profile.
