Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow control device in a combustion chamber, which can reduce a cooling loss caused by a squish flow or a reverse squish flow in an engine with a squish area formed between the peripheral part of a piston top surface and the ceiling surface of the combustion chamber.SOLUTION: A flow control device in a combustion chamber has plasma actuators (28) arranged in the combustion chamber (16). The plasma actuator comprises a dielectric body (38) arranged along a ceiling surface (16a) of the combustion chamber and/or the top surface of a piston (14) of an engine (1), inner exposure electrodes (40a) arranged on the combustion chamber side of the dielectric body, and embedded electrodes (42) arranged on the opposite side of the exposure electrodes across the dielectric body. The embedded electrodes are arranged within the range of a squish area (SA), and the inner exposure electrodes are arranged on a radially inner side of the combustion chamber than the embedded electrodes.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
