Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase and decrease air flow in a low and a high speed range of compressor, respectively by providing a current plate in an air supply passage upstream the compressor and having an angle of the current plate variable.

CONSTITUTION: When an engine is driven, a turbine rotor is turned to drive compressor wheels 3. Flow rate of air which is fed from the wheels 3. If the revolution speed is constant, the flow rate depends on flow rate and direction of air which runs into an air intake port 4 of a compressor housing 1. A servo motor 11 is controlled to vary an angle of current plates 7 with respect to the pivots of supporting shafts 6 so as to produce swirl in the air inlet port. In a low speed range of an engine, an angle of the current plates 7 is varied to increase flow rate, on the other hand, if high speed and high load run potentially includes a fear of excessively boosted pressure, the flow rate is decreased.
