Title:
FLUID VALVE CONTROL MEMBERS HAVING CONTOURED SEALING SURFACES
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2011226647
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a valve element surface shape that reduces sliding abrasion of a valve seat-sealing member installed on a valve port, in a rotary valve having a spherical outer surface as a sealing surface.

A fluid valve control member includes a body portion having a sealing surface configured to engage a sealing ring within a fluid control valve. A first portion 120 of the sealing surface 124 has a first spherical radius 400 with respect to a first point 402 along a centerline 404 of the body portion and a second portion 122 of the sealing surface 124 has a second spherical radius 406 with respect to a second point 408 along the centerline 404 of the body portion. The first and second points 402 and 408 are offset from each other and the second spherical radius 406 is sized to be smaller than the first spherical radius 400 to form a substantially seamless transition between the first and second portions 120 and 122 of the sealing surface 124.
