Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluidized bed type polymerization apparatus to perform a stable gas- phase polymerization of an olefin for a long period, by placing thermometers in such a way that adhesion of polymer particles to the thermometers can be avoided, and changing the operation conditions based on the measurement results with the thermometers.
SOLUTION: This fluidized bed type polymerization apparatus is equipped with a polymerization vessel 1 having a fluidized bed to polymerize an olefin, while fluidizing a solid catalyst component and the polymer, an apparatus 7 to recirculate, with regulation of the recirculating velocity, an unreacted olefin contg. gas running out of the top of the polymerization vessel 1, a raw material supplying apparatus 4 to control the supplied amt. to supply a fresh olefin to the polymerization vessel 1, and a catalyst supplying apparatus 8 to control the supplied amt. to supply a solid state catalyst to the polymerization vessel 1. The apparatus is also equipped with a multiple no. of temp. detecting devices at various measuring locations on the outer wall surfaces of the polymerization vessel 1 and the recirculating apparatus 7, a temp. measuring device 2 to measure temp. at each measuring location obtd. through these multiple no. of temp. detecting devices, and a controlling device 3 having stored, beforehand, a target value of the temp. distribution at each of the measuring locations for compare- calculating the target temp. distribution values with the measured temp. distribution values in order to change and control the polymerization conditions to meet the target values.
