To provide a fluorescent lamp and a bulb-shape fluorescent lamp which has a quick start-up of light flux irrespective of the lighting direction and with which lamp characteristics are maintained within a given range.

The fluorescent lamp 1 is constituted of a plurality of bulbs 2, 3, 4 formed in U-shape, a tubule 10 communicating with the inside of the bulbs 2, 3, 4 arranged in extension inward into the bulb 2, and an amalgam 13 contained in the tubule 10 so as to be positioned inside the bulb 2. Thus, the amalgam 13 is made easy to be warmed at starting and, at same time, temperature change of the amalgam 13 in accordance with lighting direction of the fluorescent lamp 1 is made small.
