To provide a novel fluorescent material that can realize great improvement of the outcoupling efficiency of fluorescence, by forming a fluorescent polyimide having not only excellent fluorescent characteristics and high heat resistance but also characteristics such as excellent mechanical properties, high transparency in the visible light region and the like into the structure of a nanofiber, and to provide an optical device using the fluorescent material.
The fluorescent material comprises a polyimide composed of a repeating unit represented by formula (1), and is constructed of an accumulation of nanofibers fabricated using an electrostatic spinning method (electrospinning method) and has the form of a nonwoven fabric or the form of a plate or an aggregate.
