Abstract:

To provide a fluorescent substance for light emitting elements excited by vacuum ultraviolet rays, having high emission brightness and causing little lowering of brightness by plasma exposure.

The fluorescent substance for light emitting elements excited by vacuum ultraviolet rays comprises a compound expressed by general formula: mM1O-nM2O-2M3O2(M1is one or more elements selected from Ca, Sr and Ba; M2is one or more elements selected from Mg and Zn; M3is one or more elements selected from Si and Ge; 0.5≤m≤3.5; 0.5≤n≤2.5; when m=n=1, M1is two or more elements selected from Ca, Sr and Ba or Sr or Ba) and an activating agent composed of one or more elements selected from Eu and Mn. The invention further provides a fluorescent substance having a crystal structure same as that of either one of diopside, akermanite or merwinite.
