Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to display suitable hue by forming a bend orientation in liquid crystal(LC) with respect to an LC display device for displaying picture by changing the transmissivity of light.
SOLUTION: An LC cell 38 is constituted by sealing an LC 37 between transparent substrates 33, 36, on which transparent pixel electrodes 31a to 31c and an orientation film 32 or a counter electrodes 34 and an orientation film 35 are formed and polarizing plates 39, 40 and a color filter 41 having blue, green and red areas 41a to 41c are arranged on both sides of the cell 38. The orientation films 32, 35 are orientated so that pretilt angles are successively increased in the order of areas 32a, 35a, 32b, 35b, 32c, 35c corresponding to the areas 41a to 41c of the color filter 41 and the transmissivity characteristic of the LC 37 which is changed in accordance with the wavelength of transmitted light is compensated.
