To provide foamable recycled styrene resin particles produced in a high yield and excellent in moldability and mechanical strengths; a production method of the particles; and a molded styrene resin foam prepared from the particles.
The foamable recycled styrene resin particles are produced by a method comprising crushing a used styrene resin foam shrank or melted in advance by heating, etc., without stretching, dispersing thus obtained recycled styrene resin particles in a liquid dispersion medium, impregnating the dispersed particles with a polymerizable monomer, and completely polymerizing the monomer. In the method, the ratio (Mw1/Mw2) of the wt. average mol.wt. (Mw1) of the recycled styrene resin particles to the wt. average mol.wt. (Mw2) of the foamable recycled styrene resin particles is 0.7-1.0; and the ratio (Mw3/Mw4) of the wt. average mol.wt. (Mw3) of the surface layer of the foamable recycled styrene resin particle to the average mol.wt. of the central part is 0.9-1.1. A production method for the foamable recycled styrene resin particles and a production method for a molded styrene resin foam from the foamable particles are also provided.
