Title:
FOAMED METAL EXCELLENT IN ENERGY ABSORPTION CHARACTERISTIC
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000328155
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a foamed metallic material which can improve energy absorption characteristic while having the same components, mass and volume as that by existing technology.

The foamed metal excellent in impact absorption characteristic has ≤3.7 mm average air bubble grain size in a foamed metallic body having ≤0.20 relative density expressed by a ratio of the foamed metal density to density of a metal with the same components. Further, the foamed metal excellent in energy absorption characteristic is a foamed metallic body which is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy, includes calcium of 0.2 to 5 wt.% to the molten metal as a viscosity thickener and titanium hydride of 1 to 3 wt.% therein as a foaming agent and has ≤0.20 relative density and ≤3.7 mm average air bubble grain size.
