To compactly fold a book stand unless it is used by forming the leg of the book stand by a square cylinder, attaching a stand body at the upper end of one surface among the four surfaces forming the square cylinder via a support board by varying an angle and also providing the two opposing surfaces at the both sides to be freely foldable inward.
The book stand body 1 is disposed at the upper end on one surface of the square cylinder 2 to be the leg, the support board whose the angle is varied is arranged on the rear surface and the inclining angle of the body 1 is varied by this inclining angle. The two surfaces 10 of the square cylinder 2, which are opposed at the both sides of the surface where the body 1 is attached, are disposed so as to be foldable inward, a square reinforcing plate arranged on one of the front and rear inner surface works as a prop in an assembling state and the square cylindrical shape is kept. Besides, an insertion groove 4 having a width being a little larger than that of a book to be placed on the body 1 is arranged in the body 1 and a stopper board with a U shape groove where the book is abutted in the depth being nearly the same as that of a binding part when the spine of the book is inserted to the groove 4 is arranged in the tip part of the body 1.
