Abstract:

To allow a person having a handicap in his/her legs and a person of advanced age to get on and off an automobile easily by himself/herself by putting a footstool on a road surface on a side of the automobile while seated by operating a stick when he/she gets on and off the automobile and getting on and off the automobile using the footstool, separate the stick from the footstool after getting off the automobile to use it as an assist device for walking, and allow the person who gives up the purchase of automobile because of his/ her handicap in his/her legs to buy the automobile so as to contribute to the promotion of sales of the automobile.

A footstool device for getting on and off the automobile is provided with the footstool 2 having a height of substantially half of a floor height H of the automobile 5 and the stick 3 constituted detachably in the footstool 2 and is mounted in the automobile at all times. When getting on and off the automobile 5, the stick 3 is operated to put the footstool 2 on the road surface 6 on the side of the automobile 5, and then the occupant gets on and off the automobile by stepping onto the footstool 2 to facilitate getting- on-and-off by reducing the floor height H of the automobile 5 to its half substantially.
