PURPOSE: To improve film quality of a metal-backed layer for a transfer material by having the metal-backed layer formed directly on a transfer film with a smooth surface or via a separate type layer with a smooth surface.

CONSTITUTION: A transfer material (B) has a separate type layer 22 and a transfer layer 23 arranged on the upper face of a transfer film 21 which is made of polyethylene terephthalate, etc. The transfer layer 23 comprises a metal-backed layer 24 built up with a metal film which is vapor-deposited with Al, etc., on the upper face of the separate type layer 22, a fluorescent material layer 25 and a black layer 26 arranged on the upper face of the metal-backed layer 24 and an adhesive layer 27 arranged so as to cover the upper faces of the fluorescent material layer 25 and the black layer 26. After the upper face of the transfer layer 23 is pressed in contact with an anode board 31, a film 21 is stripped off to apply thermal treatment to the anode board 31 and the transfer layer 23 as well. In such a way, the transfer material (B) has the metal-backed layer 24 on the separate type layer 22, which is formed on the transfer film 21 with a smooth surface, extremely smoothed to form a metal-backed layer of good film quality.
