PURPOSE: To form the heat insulating layer of uniform thickness, and to improve productivity by supplying an undiluted solution of rigid foamed urethane foam from one end of a carrying path, extruding the solution in a semirigid ribbon shape from the other end and spirally winding the extruded material on the outer circumferential surface of the pipe.
CONSTITUTION: Belt conveyors 1, 4, 9, 9 are driven at uniform velocity, and one end section of the carrying path is supplied continuously with the undiluted solution of rigid foamed urethane foam 10. Accordingly, foaming and solidification progress during movement in the carrying path, thickness and width are regulated by the belt conveyors 1, 4, 9, 9 and the solution is extruded under a semirigid state in the ribbon shape from the other end of the carrying path. The nose of ribbon-shaped rigid foamed urethane foam 10 is attached to the outer circumferential surface of the pipe 14 while the pipe 14 is moved in the axial direction as being turned around an axis by a drum-shaped roller 15, rigid foamed urethane foam 10 is wound spirally, and the heat insulating layer is formed to the outer circumference of the pipe 14.
