To provide a forward type switching power supply device capable of optimizing drive timing of synchronous rectification depending on a load, and a method for driving the same.
A forward type switching power supply device includes a drive control section which drives the forward type switching power supply device in such a manner that phases of first and second power transformers are displaced from each other by 180°. In the forward type switching power supply device, the drive control section turns on a secondary-side circuit of the second power transformer when a primary-side circuit of the first power transformer is in an off-state and a detection value of a first detection section is reversed, and turns on a secondary-side circuit of the first power transformer when a primary-side circuit of the second power transformer is in an off-state and a detection value of a second detection section is reversed.
