Title:
FOURTH CLASS PYRIDINIUM SALT INHIBITOR FOR GAS CONDITIONING SOLUTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS53119739
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
Method for establishing a concentration that inhibits the corrosión of iron and steel by carbon dioxide, and optionally by small amounts of hydrogen sulfide, in gas conditioning liquids, characterized by the operations of preparing a quaternary pyridinium salt by reacting a mixture of a pyridine compound with alkyl halide or excess benzyl halide, under heating at 90ºC for two hours, cooling the reaction mixture and recovering the quaternary salt in the form of a viscous solid or liquid precipitate; formulating an inhibitory concentration by mixing one part by weight of the quaternary pyridinium salt obtained with (1) 0.001-10 parts of a thiocompound which is a water soluble thiocyanate, a water soluble sulfide, or an organic thiomide, or (2) 0.01-10 parts of a lower alcohol-polyamine, a corresponding polyalkohylene-polyamine, or a mixture thereof, in which the units of alkoxy contain 2-3 carbon atoms; and adding the inhibiting concentration to the gas conditioning liquid, whereby the resulting gas treatment solution is substantially inhibited against the induction of corrosión in the gas treatment unit.
