Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deformation of a member by arranging rotary tools respectively on the second plate side and the third plate side of a butted part, arranging a rotary tool on one side in the vertical direction of a rotary tool on the other side, and performing friction welding after moving the two rotary tools at the essentially same speed.
SOLUTION: The upper and the lower surfaces of hollow shapes 56, 57 are subjected to friction welding at the same time. In the vertical direction of an upper rotary tool 50, a rotary tool 50a welding a lower part is arranged. The projecting part of the rotary tool 50a points upward, and the projecting part of the rotary tool 50 points downward. By making the two rotary tools 50, 50a face each other, and by moving them at the same speed, the friction welding is performed. The rotation centers of the rotary tools 50, 50a are on the same line, and on this line, the welding part of the hollow shapes 56, 57 exists. By this mechanism, forces are balanced, the deformation of the welding part is few, and the hollow shapes 56, 57 can be welded in a short time. Since it is unnecessary to reverse the hollow shapes 56, 57, the deformation is few, an operation time is shortened, and satisfactory welding can be performed. For the welding, a rack 70 is used.
