PURPOSE: To provide a front cover device for a wheel spindle stock which can generate the advantage in dynamic aspect such as the increase in rigidity by approaching a grinding wheel to the slide center in the grinding wheel cut-in direction slide and contributes to the reduction of dimension of a grinder.
CONSTITUTION: A cover device is equipped with a fixed side cover 4 which covers the slide surface front part of a wheel spindle stock 1 which aslantly advances and retreats for the axis line of a ground article and a movable side cover 5 which covers the outside of the fixed side cover 4 and turning-moves around a turning center 0 through the advance/retreat shift of the wheel spindle stock 1. The angular parts formed between the upper surface part 4a of the fixed side cover 4 and the side surface parts 4b and 4c are chamferred to form the inclined surface parts 6a and 6b, and the augular parts formed between the upper surface part 5a of the movable side cover 5 and the side surface parts 5b and 5c are chamferred to form the inclined surface parts 9a and 9b.
