Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system that allows control of the amount of fluid in a fuel circulation passage.SOLUTION: An air back pressure regulating valve 28 regulates pressure in an air exhaust passage 26. Opening of the air back pressure control valve 28 is controlled based on the amount of fluid in a fuel circulation passage 8. When the amount of fluid in the fuel circulation passage 8 increases to an upper limit Pmax of a predetermined proper range and above, the air back pressure regulating valve 28 is opened wide. Thus, the pressure in the air exhaust passage 26 is reduced, and the flow of air emitted from a cathode 4 to the air exhaust passage 26 is increased. Along with this, the amount of steam emitted together with the air from the cathode 4 to the air exhaust passage 26 is increased, and the amount of cross-leakage of water and liquid fuel from an anode 3 through an electrolyte membrane 5 to the cathode 4 is increased. As a result, the amount of fluid in the fuel circulation passage 8 is decreased.
