PURPOSE: To easily inspect and clean a fuel filter by preventing the detachment of an elastic body by engaging the elastic body with a filter element or a filter cup even in such a state that the filter cup is taken out.

CONSTITUTION: A filter element 130 filtering fuel is attached to the lower part of a filter body 110 and the filter cup 120 receiving the filter element 130 and opened at the upper part thereof is mounted on the filter body 110 in a freely detachable manner. The compression spring 140 energizing the filter element 130 toward the filter body 110 is interposed between the inner bottom surface of the filter cup 120 and the filter element 130 and the engaging means 125, 160 engaging with the compression spring 140 are provided to one of the filter cup 120 and the filter element 130. As a result, the detachment of the compression spring 140 is prevented and a fuel filter 100 can easily be inspected and cleaned.
