To provide a fuel injection control device suppressing misfires particularly during transient operation without performing on-board correction control.
A fuel injection map 1a is set through an adaptation process to avoid misfire. The adaptation is performed while considering various factors which cause misfire in an engine 100. These factors include steady operation-time factors which should be considered to cause misfire when the engine 100 is operated in a steady state. The steady operation-time factors are the cetane number of fuel, the product accuracy of an air flowmeter, variations in pilot injection amount, the product accuracy of a NE sensor, and the condition of an EGR cooler. It also include a cylinder oxygen concentration reduction amount as a transient operation-time factor which may cause misfire during transient operation. These factors are reflected to the fuel injection map 1a. Thus, correction control or the like to suppress misfire is not performed while being actually mounted on the engine 100.
