Abstract:

PURPOSE: To greatly improve the drivability offered at the normal running time without any detriment to the stability given at the time of auto-drive run by preventing hunting occurring when an engine runs in the auto-drive mode.

CONSTITUTION: There are provided both an electronic control unit (ECU) 80 which processes data on accelerator opening Accp given from an accelerator sensor 24, engine rpm Ne given from an rpm sensor 42, engine cooling water temperature given from a water temperature sensor 72, and so forth and controls a timing control valve 48, a spill actuator 54 and so on so as to make fuel injection of demanded quantity of fuel from a fuel injection pump 32 at a demanded injection timing, and an auto-drive mechanism 82 which makes feedback control of angle at which an accelerator pedal 20 is stepped on or the quantity of fuel injected by a fuel injection pump 32 when an auto-drive switch 82A is turned on. Variation in quantity of injected fuel with respect to variation in accelerator opening can be reduced and the hunting occurring at the time of auto-drive run be surely prevented, hence greatly improving the drivability.
