PURPOSE: To obtain a sufficient control performance by dividing a controlled area for a controlled system whose controlled target is changed according to a controlled range, and controlling the controlled system by using an optimal inference knowledge in each area.
CONSTITUTION: The state of a controlled system 9 is divided into plural groups and inputted by an inputting means 8, and compared with the applicable range(stored in a group applicable range storage means 6) of a previously applied group(stored in a previously applied group storage means 5) by a group selecting means 4. Then, when it is beyond the applicable range, an optimal applicable range is selected by checking the applicable range of an another group, and communicated to an inference executing means 2. The inference executing means 2 operates an inference by using the inference knowledge of the selected group, and the inferred result is outputted to the controlled system 9 by an outputting means 7. And also, a switching is operated so that divided areas can be allowed to have parts overlapped on the adjacent area, and have a hysteresis in order to prevent unstableness at the time of switching.
