To provide a garbage treatment apparatus with less odor capable of maintaining decomposition performance of the garbage.
This garbage treatment apparatus is provided with a microorganism decomposition treatment part 21 built-in with a microorganism carrier 26 and decomposing the garbage by the microorganism; a stirring means 2 built-in in the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21 and driving for a first predetermined period; an exhaust gas means 30 provided in the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21; and an air-blowing drying treatment part 34 constituted of an air chamber 35, a drying fan 36 and an air jet port 37 for jetting the air for drying the garbage 27 against the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21. After it is detected that the garbage 27 is thrown to the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21, the drying fan 36 is operated for a second predetermined period of time and driving of the stirring means 23 is forbidden. The second predetermined period of time is set longer when the temperature of external air is low. Since adjustment of moisture content can be carried out in the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21 even when the garbage with much moisture content is thrown, ventilation property can be ensured at the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21 and the decomposition performance of the garbage 27 can be continued.
