Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas cell atomic oscillator which improves frequency stability and also makes a device small in size.
SOLUTION: In this gas cell atomic oscillator, which emits exciting light of an alkali metal atom emitted from a semiconductor laser and a resonance microwave to a gas cell filled with alkali metal atoms and impact gas, brings about light/microwave dual resonance and uses a resonance frequency generated in such a case for frequency reference, a plurality of kinds of inert gases are used for the impact gas, and the change of the resonance frequency is made smaller than the temperature change and the change in the light intensity of exciting light, by respectively making its partial pressure ratio and pressure with respect to prescribed values.
