PURPOSE: To provide a gas chromatograph system which can optimize the method of system operation, increase the utility, and remarkably shorten the time required to perform gas-chromatographic evaluation.
CONSTITUTION: The system concerned comprises a sample source 30, carrier gas source 28, sample trap 12, front chromatograph separation column 22 in communication with the trap 12, rear chromatograph separation column 24 in communication with the front column 22, a sensor 26 to sense any component of a sample immediately after elution from the rear column 24, a revese washing flow path to put the carrier gas source 28 in communication with the coupling part 25 of the front and rear columns 22, 24, and a temp. controlling means to control the temp. of the trap 12 into the range in which at least some components of the sample are condensed and gasified. A fluid flow path means is furnished with can generate a collecting operation to allow the sample to flow into the trap 12, a pour-in operation for the carrier gas to flow into the trap 12 and flow reversely into the front column 22, and also an operation to allow the sample to pass through the rear column 24 toward the sensor 26 along with the reverse wash of the front column 22 and trap 12.
