PURPOSE: To further reduce concentration of a noxious component CO in a generated gas by compounding a specific CO-reducing catalyst in a gas- generating agent composed of a nitrogen-containing organic compound and an oxidizing agent as effective components.
CONSTITUTION: This gas-generating agent for air bag is composed of a nitrogencontaining organic compound and an oxidizing agent as effective components and further compounded with at least one kind of COreducing agent selected from (i) to (iii). (i) A heteropolyacid selected from tungstic acid, phosphomolybdic acid, phosphotungstic acid and antimonic acid or its salt, (ii) a mixture of ≥2 kinds of metal oxides selected from copper oxide, iron oxide, aluminum oxide, chromium oxide, manganese oxide, zinc oxide, cobalt oxide and molybdenum oxide and (iii) at least one kind selected from palladium black, platinum black and cobalt black.
