To provide a gas meter and a method of channel shut-off control capable of preventing an erroneous shut-off of the channel by a shut-off valve when airtightness is inspected with high pressure for a piping to which gas is supplied.
When airtightness is inspected with high pressure for the piping 2, the shut-off prohibiting information showing prohibition of shut-off of the channel by the shut-off valve 11 is stored in a memory, which information is inputted by a control button 14, or transmitted from a host computer 18a through a communication circuit 17. During the airtightness inspection, a control part 16 maintains an open state at the shut-off valve 11 to prevent shut-off of the channel in the case the shut-off prohibiting information is being stored in the memory, even if the gas pressure in the piping 2 detected by a pressure sensor 13 is a value outside a predetermined pressure range.
