To provide an apparatus for gas purification, which can purify a target gas by a photocatalyst reaction for deodorization and sterilization with a low level of radiation noise, a high level of purification performance in a compact size, and to provide a method for gas purification.
This apparatus 10 for gas purification includes a photocatalyst module 3 comprising a photocatalyst supported on a base substance having a three-dimensional structure, through which a target gas can be passed, and a negative electrode 1 and a positive electrode 2, which are disposed around the photocatalyst module 3 and emit ultraviolet light for excitation of the photocatalyst. A grounding electrode 4 is provided on the side of positive electrode 2 as a working electrode remote from the negative electrode 1. The distance between the positive electrode 2 and the grounding electrode 4 is larger than the distance between the negative electrode 1 and the positive electrode 2.
