To provide a new display device capable of expanding and contracting the entire airtight member by constituting the airtight member whose entire or the main part is capable of expanding and contracting.

An airtight member 3 is constituted with a bellows cylinder 31 functioning as an expanding and contracting part capable of expanding and contracting in the thickness direction of a base plate 1 and a flat plate- shaped cover plate 32 integratedly installed at one end of the bellows cylinder 31. The bellows cylinder 31 has a fixing flange 33 at the other end, and cover plate 32 is faced to the base plate 1 at the specified distance. The bellows cylinder 31 and the cover plate 32 are integratedly formed with the same material, or the bellows cylinder 31 and the cover plate 32 are separately formed, then joined in one body by welding. The bellows cylinder 31 can function as the main part of an airtight member 3, and is capable of expanding and contracting in the thickness direction, or in the arrows A1, A2 direction. If the bellows cylinder 32 expands and contracts in the thickness direction of the base plate 1, the entire airtight member 3 expands and contracts in the thickness direction of the base plate 1, or the entire gas sealing chamber 4 expands and contracts in the thickness direction of the base plate 1.
