Abstract:

To improve throughput of a gateway apparatus step by step in accordance with increase in traffic.

When a policy containing a destination range for specifying a packet to be controlled and control contents is input, a setting controller 11 determines active and standby SBCs and sets the policy so that loads of SBCs 16-1 to 16-5 become equal. Furthermore, the destination range and transmission destination information indicative of the active and standby SBCs are correspondingly registered to forwarding tables within distribution routers 12, 13. Moreover, if a new SBC is added, the active and standby SBCs of a policy setting destination are changed so that loads of SBCs also including the added SBC become equal, and contents of the forwarding tables within the distribution routers 12, 13 are changed to meet the status after the setting destination change of the policy.
