To simply gel a paraffin useful in the fields of ink, coating material, medicine, food, chemistry, or the like, by using a gelling agent containing aluminum ethylhexanoate and a fatty acid.
(A) A paraffin is gelled by using (B) a gelling agent containing (i) aluminum 2-ethylhexanoate and (ii) a fatty acid which is preferably an 8-23C (un)saturated fatty acid as active ingredients. A paraffin comprising a saturated hydrocarbon such as a normal paraffin, isoparaffin, liquid paraffin, paraffin wax as a main component may be cited as the component A. Lauric acid, myristic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, or the like, may be cited as the component (ii). The amount of the component (i) used is preferably 0.1-100 pts.wt., more preferably 0.1-30 pts.wt., and that of the component (ii) used is preferably 0.1-100 pts.wt., more preferably 0.1-30 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A.
