Abstract:
To obtain a glass substrate for a magnetic disk capable of surely reducing touch down height (TDH) to a desired value, and a magnetic disk.
In the glass substrate for a magnetic disk, a surface shape in which shape wavelength is a band of 60-500 μm is extracted from among surface shapes in each area obtained by optionally selecting two places on a surface closer to a central part side than to an outer peripheral end of a glass substrate, and when root mean square roughness Rq of the surface shape is defined as fine waving Rq, a difference of the fine waving Rq of each area is ≤0.02 nm or a difference of a standard deviation of the fine waving Rq of each area is ≤0.04 nm.
