A shaft 2 is linked to a head 1 in which the face 3 is formed on the front of a golf club and a recessed part 9 on the rear thereof and provided with a shaft mounting part 8 on one side thereof. The bottom surface 9A of the recessed part 9 is formed to meet H1/W1≥0.6 when the maximum length thereof in the direction of the top 4 and the sole 5 thereof is given H1 and the maximum length in the direction of the toe 6 and the heel 7 give W1. When the length H1 and maximum length of the face 3 given H2 are provided, 0.7≤H1/H2≤0.85 is met. The face 3 is made pliable during the hitting of a ball to develop a larger repulsion force thereby significantly increasing the carry.
