Abstract:

An apparatus includes a center portion (104) and a plurality of spoke portions (108, 112) that are in contact with the center portion (104) and that extend to a perimeter region. The plurality of spoke portions (108, 112) include at least a first monolithic spoke portion (108, 112) extending from the center portion (104) to the perimeter region, and the center portion (104) and the plurality of spoke portions (108, 112) define a plurality of cavity regions (110) among the plurality of spoke portions (108, 112). The center portion (104), the plurality of spoke portions (108, 112), and the plurality of cavity regions (110) are included in a gradient index (GRIN) lens (100) having a plurality of effective dielectric constants that are based on a radial distance from the center portion (104).
