Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin capable of providing an impact resistant resin composition having good appearance of moldings when blended as an impact resistant modifier by subjecting a specific acrylic rubber to graft polymerization with a monomer mixture having a specific composition in the presence of a polyfunctional vinyl monomer. CONSTITUTION:A monomer mixture consisting of total amount (100wt.%) of 80-97.9wt.% 2-12C alkyl acrylate monomer, 2-19.9wt.% vinyl monomer (preferably acrylonitrile) copolymerizable with the above-mentioned alkyl acrylate monomer and 0.1-2wt.% polyfunctional vinyl monomer is subjected to emulsion polymerization to provide an acrylic rubber having 0.08-0.18mum particle size in emulsion. Then, 100pts.wt. of the resultant acrylic rubber is subjected to graft polymerization with 10-50pts.wt. of a monomer mixture consisting of the total amount (100wt.%) of 10-90wt.% aromatic vinyl monomer, 10-40wt.% vinyl cyanide monomer and 0-80wt.% methyl methacrylate in the presence of a 0.1-2pts.wt. of a polyfunctional vinyl monomer to provide the aimed resin.
