PURPOSE: A gray hair-preventing cosmetic that contains, as an active ingredient, minoxidil, thus showing action to prevent gray hair from growing, causing no side-effects such a eruption or rubefaction, when it is applied to hair roots and being suitable for use in the form of a hair lotion.

CONSTITUTION: The objective cosmetic contains, as an active ingredient, minoxidil (=2,4-diamino-6-pipridinopyrimidine-3-oxide), which is used as a hypotensor and allow hairs to grow specifically, when it is applied to skins. Minoxidil is soluble in an organic solvent such as ethanol or acetone and also dissolves in water by 2mg/ml. Therefore, it is dissolved in a solvent such as alcohol or water by 1W10g and used as a hair lotion or hair tonic together with perfumes, humectants, refreshing agents and skin stimulant. The lotion or tonic is applied to hair roots regularly. It is also used as a hair-dressing agent such as hair cream.
