PURPOSE: To provide a grinding method and a grinding device allowing a cylindrical object, a camshaft, or the like to be ground with high accuracy at low cost.
CONSTITUTION: A workpiece rest 24 supports a workpiece 2 being fitted to a mechanism part 25 fixed onto a dividing table 3 and provided with built-in servo motors 26, 27. This workpiece rest 24 moves forward/backward so that the flexure quantity at each ground point of the workpiece 2 is zero. The forward quantity is computed from a data table and inputted to a workpiece rest forward/backward motion control means. Or the computed result of a movable flexure quantity detecting means is reflected on the forward/backward motion of the workpiece rest 24, and the flexure quantity is further detected by a detecting means after moving the workpiece rest 24 forward/backward by the data of the data table. The data of the data table is then rewritten.
