Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent a grinding wheel body from being brought into uneven contact with a roll following the alteration of the roll diameter or the like by forming a groove in a metal base along a plane crossing the direction of pressing the grinding wheel body to the roll.
CONSTITUTION: When a grinding wheel body 2 abuts against a roll 10 to cause a gap between the roll 10 and grinding wheel body 2 and a pressing force is applied to a metal base 1 along the axial direction of the base metal 1 toward the roll 10, the metal base 1 is elastically deformed to reduce the width of the groove 1a in the metal base 1 so that the whole surface of the grinding wheel body 2 will abut against the roll 10. Thus, since the whole surface of the grinding wheel body 2 can abut against the roll 10 without making uneven contact with the roll 10 even if the roll diameter or the like is altered, the roll 10 can be ground uniformly with high accuracy even if the roll 10 is changed.
