Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a drug delivery system useful for the treatment of periodontosis of periodontal pocket and composed of fine particles having a specific state for releasing a drug at a controlled rate and a liquid suspension base for the fine particles. CONSTITUTION: This curing system contains a plurality of separated fine particles having a diameter of 10-500μm and composed of a drug and a polymer containing the drug (said fine particles are released at a rate controlled by the diffusion of the drug through the polymer in the applied environment) and a liquid suspension base for the fine particles. The system is placed in the periodontal pocket for 1-30 days while keeping the activity in the pocket. The drug is e.g. composed of calcium, fluoride, etc.
