The hair evaluation system comprises: a comb or a brush with a microphone fixed at the almost center position of a back part for supporting the teeth part of the comb or brush for combing the hair so that the microphone does not project to the teeth part; and an evaluation device capable of evaluating the smoothness of the hair by receiving the signal of combing sound inputted at the time of combing the hair by using the comb or the brush with the microphone, amplifying the signal of the combing sound, outputting it as sound and/or analyzing the frequency of the combing sound and performing display based on the average value of a sound volume including a specified frequency range obtained from an analyzed result or an integrated value in the prescribed band of frequency characteristics.
