PURPOSE: To provide a hand holding type ophthalmological device capable of stabilizing the relative position relation of an eye to be inspected and the measuring part of the device while measurement is being performed in a hand holding type eye refracting power measuring instrument.

CONSTITUTION: This hand holding type ophthalmological device is provided with a forehead pad 20 to be abutted with the forehead 3 of an examinee 1, and a housing part 12 formed in recessed shape so as to house the forehead pad 20 is formed in a measuring part 10 in which a measuring optical system is provided. Moreover, the device is provided with a forehead pad moving mechanism which supports the forehead pad 20 capable of moving the forehead pad 20 from a housed position where it is housed in the housing part 12 to a direction in parallel with the optical axis C of the measuring optical system.
